Longplay HiFi is a small café, bar and listening room in Sherman Heights, built around the idea that a record deserves time. Coffee, natural wine and light food support the session. They do not dictate its pace.
The system uses 1980 Klipsch Heresy speakers, a JBL studio subwoofer, McIntosh MA-352 amplification and Technics SL-1200MK7 turntables feeding a MasterSounds rotary mixer. The gear has enough scale for the room without turning a coffee bar into a miniature club. It is run at a level where conversation and close listening can coexist.
Jazz is the centre of the collection, but selectors move through hip-hop, experimental records and whatever else carries warmth and personality. Laptops and phone calls are discouraged, and occasional events go further by checking phones at the door. Best for anyone happy to slow down and let a side play before reaching for the next thing.
