Kiku Room is a neighbourhood music bar in a low-lit Kettner Boulevard space, inspired by Japanese jazz-kissa culture without pretending to be a silent temple. Its name comes from the Japanese verb for listening, and the programme keeps music present from opening time onward.
Selectors work across vinyl, digital and reel-to-reel sources. The schedule moves through dub, disco, house and broader global selections, with touring guests alongside regular local nights. Format purity is not the point here. The bar is more interested in what the selector does with the room.
The mood depends on the night. Sofas behind the booth make room for listening and conversation, while busier weekend sets can push the bar towards a compact dancefloor. Go on a quieter evening for the room itself, or follow the programme when the selector matters more than personal space.
