L’Altitude is a neighbourhood audiophile bar in Forest built around a large vinyl collection and a system that gets more attention than the average restaurant installation. Food and wine are part of the evening, but records are selected with intent rather than left to fill the gaps between orders.
The room combines a vintage Tannoy setup with custom Penrose Audio speakers using 15-inch woofers and Arai-horn-loaded compression drivers. Penrose calibrated the system to the space and fitted compact monitors in the DJ booth. The result is a proper playback system designed for the room, not a pair of expensive boxes added after the furniture arrived.
Programming includes guest selectors, vinyl sessions and food-and-music pairings. Conversation is welcome, so this is not a silent jazz-kissa room. It suits listeners who want a serious system without surrendering the sociable rhythm of a Brussels bar.
