Stereo is one of Zurich’s clearer attempts to make a social bar behave like a hi-fi room without turning it into a museum. Set on Brauerstrasse near Langstrasse, it has the right neighbourhood energy for a late bar, but the sound is not treated as an afterthought.
The official site describes carefully curated music played through a Klipsch sound system with a Varia RDM40 rotary mixer. 45rpm adds the useful gear detail: two Klipsch Cornwall IV, two Klipsch Cornwall III, two Klipsch Heresy speakers, three Avantone CLA-200 amplifiers, and the Bern-made Varia Instruments RDM40 mixer. DJs start later in the evening, while staff select records before the programme takes over.
This is not a strict sit-still listening room. Stereo is built for cocktails, small plates, conversation, and dancing once the night moves, but it still belongs on ListenBars because the room is openly music-led and the system has more intent than most Zurich nightlife rooms. Best for people who want proper sound without giving up the bar part of the bar.
