CODA is a jazz kissa in Sai Ying Pun where the shelves, schedule and sound system all point in the same direction. During the day it works as a café with handpicked jazz records. Evenings add whisky, live performances and more formal listening sessions.
Vintage Technics horn speakers and a turntable sit opposite a wall of records that customers are encouraged to browse. Jazz leads the selection, from classic LPs to weekly appearances by local and visiting musicians. The calendar also makes room for cultural talks, songwriter sessions and guided album listening.
Normal service is relaxed enough for conversation, although the team has tried asking louder tables to ease off and formal sessions expect more attention. That balance makes CODA less austere than an old-school Japanese kissa without reducing the records to wallpaper. Come for a quiet afternoon spin or choose a ticketed night when the performance itself is the point.
