Bar IPPUKU is a fourth-floor music bar in Shinsaibashi, with records behind the counter and owner DJ Nanzo working the turntables between drinks. The collection leans towards hip-hop, soul, funk and blues. A 2024 FM802 visit reported roughly 7,000 records in the room.
Old-school hip-hop is a recurring thread, though the selection can move through R&B, jazz, Japanese soundtracks and rock. Nanzo’s role matters here. This is an owner-led room where the person pouring the drinks also decides what comes next, rather than a bar running a vinyl-themed playlist.
IPPUKU is small and social, closer to a record-led neighbourhood bar than a silent jazz kissa. Go for the selections and the conversation around them.
