ROMAN Kissa Bar is a 30-square-metre, 18-seat listening room in Palermo. The seating plan follows the speakers’ dispersion, and playback is held around 80 dB instead of climbing towards club volume. Phenolic plywood panels backed with rock wool control reflections without making the compact room feel acoustically dead.
The system uses KLH Model Five speakers, a Rotel 1572 MKII amplifier, Audio-Technica 1240 turntables and an Ecler WARM2 rotary mixer. Vinyl is the only playback format. A visible decibel display and the room’s small scale make the listening policy clear before anyone has to explain it.
Friday and Saturday begin with the owner on records before guest selectors take over, while resident programming covers the other open nights. Sessions are album-led and connected by a theme, with Argentine music given a proper place in the collection. Guests stay seated, keep phones silent and conversations low, and do not make song requests. This is a room for people willing to give the selector and the record their attention.
