The Ballroom is Palais’s first-floor cocktail bar and listening space, set above the club on Rye Lane. Its high ceilings, central bar and clear view of the booth make it an easier room for following a selector than the usual DJ squeezed into a corner.
Friday and Saturday evenings start slowly, with residents, local selectors and invited crews playing for listeners who still want to talk. The pace and volume rise later, when the Ballroom moves closer to a dancefloor.
That change through the night matters. Arrive near opening for the listening-bar version of Palais; come much later and expect a louder club room. Details of the Ballroom’s sound equipment have not been published, so it should not be confused with the separate system downstairs.
