Oasis is a large Japanese restaurant and listening bar in Clarendon, with records across the walls and a sound system that takes up real physical space in the dining room. The scale is unusual for the format: a full bar, a separate dining area and a patio, with sushi, whisky and sake running alongside the music.
The main system and DJ decks sit in the dining room. Tuesday is the dedicated vinyl night, moving across genres, while local selectors take over on Friday and Saturday. City pop has a natural place here, though the programme is broader than one Japanese reference point.
Oasis is social and lively, with enough room for dinner and groups. It does not aim for kissa silence. The better reason to visit is the regular rhythm of record nights, a substantial system and a programme that gives the music more work to do than a standard restaurant playlist.
