Nami is a 25-seat listening bar above Supa San in Bandra, inspired by the small Japanese rooms where the record sets the pace. Its library runs past 500 titles, with resident selector Owlist moving from jazz fusion and spiritual jazz towards soul, world disco, trip-hop, house and electronica as the evening develops.
The system was designed with Munro Acoustics around multicell horns and handcrafted Indonesian hi-fi speakers. Two vintage Technics SL-1210 MK2 turntables, refurbished by MasterSounds, feed a Resør rotary mixer. The exact amplification has not been published.
Listening is more deliberate than the usual restaurant soundtrack. Guests are encouraged to keep conversation low during sets, while recurring Alley Tunes and Supa Jams sessions bring in other selectors. Go for a seat close to the system and give the programme time to unfold.
