murmur sits at the back of a building in Amsterdam-Noord, with a hand-built speaker system and a programme shaped around music outside the mainstream. On weekends, collectors play long DJ sets over dinner and into the night instead of cycling through short peak-time slots.
The weekday programme stretches beyond the usual bar calendar. Concerts, listening sessions, education and solidarity events all use the same small room, giving murmur the character of a community music space with drinks rather than a hi-fi showroom.
There is a time limit on this address. The venue has announced that its Aambeeldstraat location will close at the end of December 2026. Until then, it remains one of Amsterdam’s more purposeful rooms for patient, social listening.
