Little Soul Cafe is a Shimokitazawa music bar with more than 14,000 analog records packed into a small room of counter seats and sofas. Soul and funk are the obvious anchor points, but the official scope also reaches into jazz, dance music and whatever fits the room at the time.
It is warmer and less severe than Tokyo’s strictest jazz bars. The draw is the owner’s record-by-record selection, the scale of the collection, and the feeling of sitting inside a private shelf of music rather than a venue decorated with vinyl.
