Kanpai is a sake, sushi and vinyl bar in Thảo Điền, and one of Saigon’s earlier modern listening-bar references. It takes cues from Japanese music-bar culture: cedar-toned interiors, sake, food and a vinyl-led room built for close listening rather than a loud bar format.
The system is unusually specific for a small bar: JBL 4312 Mk2 speakers, a McIntosh MX6800 amplifier, a Klipsch subwoofer and Technics SL-1200MK2 decks, with room acoustic treatment also noted by the venue. The music leans smooth and melodic rather than club-first, with jazz and city pop part of the room’s identity.
Kanpai is the quieter, food-led end of Saigon’s listening-bar map: sake, sushi, vinyl and a room that treats the system as part of the hospitality.
