Cafe Bar Eagle is a long-running Yotsuya jazz kissa, open since 1967, with the room arranged around recorded jazz rather than background music. From opening until 6pm, the house asks guests to listen quietly. After that, it relaxes into a jazz bar with drinks, food and conversation kept close to the music.
The system is built for natural, fatigue-free jazz playback: JBL 4344 Mark speakers, an Accuphase C-280V preamp, Mark Levinson 23.5L power amplifier, Accuphase DP-570 CD player, Yamaha GT-2000 turntable and Denon DL-103R cartridge.
Eagle is also a useful place for people still finding their way into jazz. The venue keeps jazz books and magazines in the room, hosts talks and events, and treats the space as a small jazz library as much as a cafe-bar.
