Chiave splits its evening across two floors on Redchurch Street. The ground floor is an intimate cocktail bar where every drink is paired with a song. Downstairs, the space tightens into a small music room with a DJ booth, a dance area and custom Arda Audio speakers.
The Danish-built system uses Japanese-influenced wooden cabinets, and the basement has been given full sound treatment. It is built to handle both a low-key drink and the later club hours without treating the speakers as decoration. Exact amplification and playback hardware have not been published.
Programming moves through house, minimal techno, electro-funk and hip-hop, with local selectors and vinyl sets alongside ticketed nights. Chiave is social and can get lively, especially downstairs. Go for a music-led bar that leaves room for dancing, rather than the quiet manners of a traditional jazz kissa.
